80 cm Round Rug Size: Check the Footprint Before Door Clearance

Round Patterned Accent Rug — 80 cm
Product listing image: Round Patterned Accent Rug — 80 cm

An 80 cm round rug occupies a circle about 31.5 inches across. That tells you its floor footprint, not whether a door can pass over it. Door clearance depends on rug and backing thickness, plus any pad. Those thicknesses are not supplied for the two products compared here.

Compare the floor shapes at the same scale

The patterned round accent rug is listed as a machine-woven polyester floor mat, approximately 80 cm in diameter, in Style 1. The grey entryway mat is approximately 40 × 60 cm. The diagram uses those listed dimensions; it is not a photograph or measurement of physical samples.

Listed footprint Useful conversion What it does not establish

40 × 60 cm rectangle About 15.7 × 23.6 inches Thickness, water resistance or non-slip performance

Try the footprint without buying a rug

Mark a center point and use a 40 cm radius to sketch the round footprint on paper. For the rectangle, mark a 40 × 60 cm outline. Place the outlines where you intend the rug to go and check nearby furniture and the walking route. Remove them after the check; loose paper is only a temporary planning aid.

The round footprint is about 5,027 square centimeters; the rectangle is 2,400. That does not mean the round one fits a narrow space better. Its widest point is still 80 cm. A 70 cm gap cannot hold the full circle, even though the corners of a surrounding square would be empty.

Door clearance is a different measurement

Measure the smallest gap beneath the door across its full swing, including any uneven area of floor. Compare that with the combined thickness of the rug, backing and any intended pad. You need spare clearance rather than a nominal exact match.

Hypothetical example: an 8 mm gap and a 6 mm rug-plus-pad total leave only 2 mm before allowing for variation. These are example numbers, not specifications for either product. We cannot say either of these mats clears your door because their assembled thickness is not documented.

Check the chair’s movement too

A rug fitting beneath a chair while it is tucked in does not prove it covers the chair’s movement when someone sits down or stands up. Trace the movement you need in the real room. An 80 cm accent circle should not be selected as a full dining-chair area without that check.

Choose or skip

Consider the round option for a small decorative footprint where its full 80 cm width fits. Consider the rectangular mat where its shape better matches the available floor area. If the rug must sit under a tight-swinging door, obtain thickness information first or choose a documented low-profile alternative. Neither product has been tested by us for grip or compatibility with your flooring.
